ADOT I-10 Tucson
Project Details
Alta EI is contracted with Granite Construction Company to support improvements to Interstate 10 between Ruthrauff Road and Ina Road in Tucson. The project is being delivered for the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) in coordination with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
Alta EI is providing construction staking services for key roadway, bridge, and interchange elements associated with this major interstate corridor improvement. Project work includes reconstructing and widening nearly four miles of I-10 from three travel lanes in each direction to four, as well as constructing auxiliary lanes to create two-lane entrance and exit ramps at all interchanges within the project limits. Additional improvements include replacement of the existing inside shoulder pavement to accommodate an additional travel lane in each direction near the Ina Road interchange.
The scope also encompasses reconstruction of the Orange Grove Road interchange to increase vertical clearance beneath I-10, as well as reconstruction of the Cañada del Oro Wash and Rillito River I-10 bridges to provide sufficient hydraulic and structural clearance. New bridge construction is being performed to carry Sunset Road traffic over the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) and the Rillito River, along with construction of a new access path connecting Sunset Road to the Chuck Huckelberry Loop multi-use trail system.
Upon completion of the project, I-10 will provide four continuous travel lanes in each direction from 22nd Street to Ina Road, significantly improving traffic flow, safety, and regional mobility. Construction activities began in February 2023, with substantial completion anticipated by the end of 2025.
