Project Details

The City of Phoenix solicited qualified, local construction materials testing laboratories within the metropolitan area to provide construction materials testing and special inspection services for the Valley Metro Light Rail Extension projects. Alta was solely awarded the contract, reflecting the City’s confidence in Alta’s technical expertise and local expertise.

In addition to materials testing and special inspections, Alta provided comprehensive survey support across five phases of this multi-year, regionally significant infrastructure project. Early efforts focused on replacing and maintaining survey monuments and control points during active construction, followed by the establishment and upkeep of a continuous control and historical survey network. Upon project completion, Alta set permanent monumentation, prepared corner records and a Record of Survey documenting final monumentation, and completed detailed as-built drawings to support long-term asset management.

Alta continues to support the City of Phoenix and Valley Metro by providing ongoing geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing for this on-call, as well as the Northwest Extension Phase 2, ensuring consistent quality, compliance, and continuity throughout design, construction and closeout.
